When deciding to go on holidays, crossing the miles from Miami to Key West is not such a big deal and you can be sure that you will have the holidays of lifetime. Key West is among the most popular holiday destinations and millions of tourists visit it each year.

Simply, because a 3.5 hour car ride in some cases can become a real nightmare due to often traffic jams, the fact that one will be tired after a ride and the fact that gas is not that cheap. In case that you don't mind getting stuck in a traffic jam, a better option is choosing a bus as a means of transportation. Buses that travel the distance from Miami to Key West are comfortable and you can lie back in the seat and enjoy the scenic nature, snap some photos or even take a nap.

When traveling by land, you will have to cross the famous Overseas Highways and to cross the Seven Mile Bridge in order to reach the island. Along the way you will pass by other beautiful islands, cross more than 40 bridges and see some of the most beautiful nature wonders.

Except by land, the miles from Miami to Key West can be crossed using a ferry. Ferry rides are fast and comfortable and a return ticket is about $150. A ride by ferry lasts not more than 3 hours which makes it much faster than when traveling by car.

Another reason why it is not recommended taking the car to the island is the fact that it will be almost impossible to drive it there. Why? Because the streets on the island are rather narrow which makes it difficult for a car to pass there. Another reason is the lack of parking space. In case that you find a parking space you will soon discover that it is quite expensive leaving the car there even for a couple of hours. So, once you reach the island, the best thing is renting a bicycle or exploring the island by foot.

In the end, the miles from Miami to Key West can be crossed by plane. Puddle jumpers are small planes that are taking the tourists from Miami International Airport to Key West Airport. The flight normally takes about 45 minutes and the average plane ticket is around $200 or even more, making this the most expensive, but the fastest way to reach the island.
